Inspiring the Future

User Experience (UX) Design

Project Overview
Inspiring the Future is an event for young people to hear from volunteer role models in their communities, learn about different jobs and why people love doing them. This project was to improve the Inspiring the Future website by adding more landing pages so users could get a better understanding of upcoming events and read more about the role models that were at these events.
My Contributions
I made a wide range of contributions to this project. I worked with the marketing team and developing team to create wireframes and low fi prototypes for user-testing. After the user testing, I used the findings to edit and finalise the new navigation menu in Figma which was passed on to the developers team. While designing, I followed the Inspiring the Future style guide and made the navigation a new component, which was added to the style guide so others could use.
Due to short time frames and limited resourcing, I designed some low fi wireframes to test on people in the organisation who hadn't used the website or hadn't heard of Inspiring the Future. During the testing, I asked questions about where they would click if they were to look for certain things e.g "You want to see what is happening this month, where would you go?" The insights from the testing helped inform the location of the new landing pages and the new titles in the navigation bar. I used the already existent style guide to choose the font, colour and feel for the navigation bar which was designed in Figma. I made the new navigation bar by using a button component to create a 'new' component and style for the navigation bar, this ensured it was similar style to rest of website and made it easier for others to see the different 'states' for the navigation bar button.
